Kanchana the Queen of the Seventies in South Indian film industry was a very popular top actress in the 1960s and 1970s.Kanchana is a noted Telugu actress of the 1970s. She acted in all four South Indian languages: Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. She has also acted in Hindi films as well.
Kanchana was born in a well-to-do family. Her original name was Vasundara. She learnt Bharata Natyam and Music. She was working as a Air Hostess, when she was discovered by the film director Sridhar. He gave the heroine role in his film kadalikka neramillai in 1963.
According to a release by ADMK office, this was a courtesy call on the party’s General Secretary Jayalalitha and accompanying Kanchana were Kannada artistes Asha Jagadeesh and Jothi Manjunath.
She now lives in Bangalore, close to her sister and brother-in-law.
She is known for her Natural acting in many movies , She was appropriately known as the Queen of the Seventies in South Indian film industry.
